Start Your Search

  1. If you know what you are looking for, start by typing words in the “Search by artist, keyword, or reference...” box. You can enter names or keywords to quickly find what you are looking for. For example, you might type "O’Keeffe," "Egypt," or "flower."
  2. You can enter the first few letters of a word, and the popular search results will autocomplete in the box below. For example, if you enter “gog”, Vincent van Gogh is one option that appears.
  3. You can enter several words in the “Search by artist, keyword, or reference...” box. For example, if you want to find images of Buddha meditating, type both "meditation" and "Buddha."
  4.  You can see search results in two ways. Toggle between these two symbols to see thumbnail view or list view. The list view can be easily printed to see a collection of thumbnail images with   artwork information.

Search Tips

Limiting Results

If you have too many results and would like to narrow your search you have several options. For example, if your search term was "landscape," go to the “Limit Results” box, click on the down arrow, and select "Title" to get results where the word "landscape" only appears in the title.

Sorting Results

If you would like to see your search results in a specific order, you can easily sort them using a variety of categories.

Pre-Populated Searches

Using its extensive collection data, the CMA has created several pre-populated searches enabling visitors to dive into a specific part of the collection. These searches are developed based on requests from visitors and other popular subjects and rotate frequently to encourage new insights.
