The Cleveland Museum of Art’s performing arts series brings together thoughtful, fascinating, and beautiful experiences, comprising a concert calendar notable for its boundless multiplicity. This year we look forward to visits from old friends and new, bringing us music from around the globe and spanning many centuries. Here is the place where performance is intended to explore connections of cultures, the heart, the human spirit.

Highlights of this season include the century-spanning program of Fretwork that juxtaposes the old and new, and the presentation of Radhe, Radhe: Rites of Holi by Vijay Iyer and International Contemporary Ensemble in conjunction with the exhibition Art and Stories from Mughal India. Also this season, the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble returns for a series of weekend concerts, Jean-Baptiste Monnot and Emmanuel Arakélian perform organ recitals, a film series honors composer Philip Glass and his 80th birthday, and a vocal trio from The Crossing presents David Lang’s “Lifespan” in a weekend of performances in the east glass box gallery. We also welcome violinist Francesco D’Orazio and cellist Jeffrey Ziegler for solo concerts at Transformer Station. In the spring the vocal ensemble Quince perform a program of contemporary works; Frode Haltli and Emilia Amper present Grenseskogen (The Border Woods), a new work rooted in Nordic folksong; Indian classical music tabla legend Zakir Hussain offers a duo recital with santoor player Rahul Sharma; and pioneering jazz harpist Brandee Younger appears with pianist-composer Courtney Bryan.
