The Cleveland Museum of Art’s (CMA) top priority is the safety of its visitors, volunteers, and staff. Read on for more information on our current protocols.

What amenities are available?

The ARTLENS Gallery and Ingalls Library and Museum Archives are open.

Provenance Café is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A limited selection of hot food items are available during select open hours, see museum hours for detailed café hours. The café is closed on Mondays.

Provenance Restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday. The restaurant’s dining room is open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the bar and lounge are open from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The museum’s coat check is located in the Horace Kelley Art Foundation North Lobby.

The south doors will close for the season as a visitor entry and exit point on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the end of the day.

Where may I store my personal items?

The coat check is located in the museum’s Horace Kelley Art Foundation North Lobby.

Please refer to the Museum Policies page on the CMA’s website for a list of items not permitted in the institution.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is not responsible for any lost or stolen items, and we recommend leaving any valuable items or items that may not be permitted in the museum at home.

Are public tours and on-site programming available?

Daily highlights tours are offered at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Read a monthly listing of tour topics and scheduled guides. Tours are free, but tickets are required. Tickets may be reserved in advance via the museum’s ticketing website or on-site at any ticketing desk, subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours are limited to 15 participants per group.

The museum has gradually reintroduced on-site educational programs. Educators are welcome to begin booking gallery experiences. For more details, visit the “Learn” section of the website.

Self-guided multimedia tours are available on the museum’s ArtLens App.

The museum offers a variety of in-person events and programs. Please visit the “Calendar” section of the website for more information about upcoming programs.

I’m a teacher and I’d like to bring my students to the museum. What options are currently available?

Pre-K–grade 12 learning programs can be scheduled by registering online. Learn more about all our resources for schools and educators.

What are the museum’s current protocols?

The CDC updated its guidelines regarding the need to wear face coverings in public settings for protection against COVID-19. The CMA recommends but no longer requires visitors to wear a face covering inside the building.

The museum will retain the Plexiglas barriers in the north lobby, at the information desk, in the store, and in Provenance Café.

Read the Fine Print

To ensure safety for all, visitors must pass through metal detectors at the entrance of the building. The CMA maintains a strict policy of no weapons on our premises. Persons refusing a security screening will be denied entry into the museum.

The CMA cannot guarantee that any visitor will not contract COVID-19 while on the CMA premises. By visiting the CMA, all visitors voluntarily assume all risks related to COVID-19 exposure and accept and agree to abide by these guidelines and all other signage posted on the CMA premises. At least one visitor in the party must be over 18 years old; minors must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors must respect all posted signage and follow all CMA policies, rules and instructions. Any visitor, including members of that visitor’s party, who fails to follow the CMA signage, rules, and instructions, may be denied entry or be asked to leave the CMA.
